Deb, Greg, Sharon, and all your children, grandchldren -- I share your grief and send each of you deep sympathy at the loss of your Mother, and my dearly loved friend. There are few women in this world like your Mom -- mostly happy, always warm, opinionated, generous and filled with love for her children and grandchildren. How often I heard her brag to others about each of you. She was so proud of you three and your offspring; so very proud to be your mother, and their grandmother.
Hazel, you know how much she loved you and your children and grandchildren. Her love and loyalty for you all had no end. And I am proud that she loved me too. To have Josephine Behrens as a friend was to have someone who could be counted on, always.
How many visits, trips back-and-forth and up-and-down the country so that we could be together from time to time. And when together we were always always laughing, always loving each other, as you all know.
I have missed Jo these recent years during her illness. She is at rest now, and we can all count ourselves blessed to have spent some of our lives knowing her and treasuring the woman she was. May God bless her and keep her at peace in His arms. Joy

How do I put in a few words the life of a woman who had such a profound influence in my life. I remember being introduced to Josphine as a young girl dating her son, Greg.
As any girl would be, I was nervous, but she greeted me with her delightful Southern drawl and hospitality. As I prepared to marry her son, she welcomed me into her family and gave us a wonderful reception with all the trimmings. I became ill with my first child and I remember her spending several nights by my bed side with Greg, while she made sure I had the best care. While she lived in California, I enjoyed being her daughter-in-law because she was a real mother to me in so many ways. She showed me how to become a stronger, more assertive woman. She gave me cooking lessons, although if you ask Greg, I still can't cook. She encouraged me to be a teacher which is the profession I have enjoyed for the last 26 years. She was a wonderful grandmother who enjoyed spoiling her grand kids. My daughters have treasured memories of Grandma Jo. Like myself, they both are becoming strong and assertive women because of mom's example and influence in their lives. Words can't express how much I will miss her. Mom knew how to throw a fun party, so I'm sure she will meet up with her passed friends and loved ones and have a great big party.
Love Caroline

Deb and all who loved Jo. Although I knew Jo for many, many years, through Joy of couse, I think now how unfortunate it is that I never had enough one-on-one time with her to get to know her better. It seemed we were always rushing off for somewhere else when our paths would cross, like in Vegas, or San Francisco.... Hello, hello, see you soon, see you soon, bye bye. Just never enough time.
Looking at all the photos during her beautiful funeral service in Georgia brought back memories of the times I did have with her, and they were all 100% fun. She was strong-willed, full of life, and full of a ton of knowledge about, well, about just everything. She and Joy were very close and Joy feels Jo's loss deeply. I'll miss her, too. Maxie
