Mr. D Q Monroe, age 81, passed away peacefully after an extended illness on October 14, 2020 in Mt. Vernon Georgia. DQ was born February 16, 1939 to Issac Monroe Sr. and Marriah Stephens Monroe in Toombs County Georgia. He was married to Betty Smith Monroe on December 23, 1961. He was in the Marines from 1957- 1960. He had a few jobs before settling in with Coleman Sales in 1967 and retiring in 2001. He was a faithful servant of Jehovah God for 48 years. He was baptized in 1972. He served as an elder to the Vidalia congregation for many years.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Betty Monroe; parents, Issac Monroe Sr. and Marriah Stephens Monroe; six brothers, Alvin, Harold, James, Rayford, Leroy, and Isaac Monroe Jr.
DQ is survived by two children, Chris Monroe and wife Brenda of Mt Vernon, and Cindy Douglas and husband Greg of Lyons; four sisters, Dot Aaron of Lyons, Janie Lee of Albany, Diane Keen of Brunswick, and Maudell Matthews of Lyons; grandchildren, Christy Hall, Stephen Douglas, Brandon Douglas, Bailey Douglas, Nick Curtis and Alexis Hernandez and great grandchildren, Joshua, Jaden and Aden Hall as well as many wonderful family and friends.
Memorial Services for Mr. D Q Monroe, will be held Sunday, October 25, 2020 at 2:00 pm at Ronnie L Stewart Funeral Service Vidalia Chapel with Jerry Lanier officiating. The family will receive friends at 1:00 pm for visitation. For those unable to attend it will be available to view through zoom.
Interment will follow at a later date.
Ronnie L. Stewart Funeral Service Vidalia Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
