Early on Friday October 18, 2019, Mr. Bernard Fountain, passed away at the age of 81 after an extended illness. Mr. Fountain was a native and lifelong resident of Montgomery County. Bernard was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mount Vernon and served many years as a deacon of the church as well as 40 years as a Sunday School Teacher. Mr. Fountain was retired from the Dept of Transportation as well as a retired volunteer fireman.
Mr. Fountain is preceded in death by his parents, Monroe and Annie Mae Fountain, Four brothers, J.M. Marvin, Leroy, and Festus, two sisters, Juanita, and Oreta. Mr. Fountain is survived by his wife, Peggy Fountain of Mount Vernon, two sons, Joey Fountain of Mount Vernon, and Byron {Emily} Fountain, of Vidalia, two daughters, Sheila {Ruskin} Cheek of Glenwood, Sherri {Howard} Kaufold, of Higgston, two sisters, Wylene {Junior} Denney of Canton Ga, Celia {Garland} Gillis Of Mount Vernon, ten grandchildren, Jessica, Justin, Wesley, Jarred, Morgan, Brooke, Colby, Annie, Hap, and Kristen, and sixteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services for Mr. Bernard Fountain will be held Sunday, October 20, 2019 at 3:00 PM at First Baptist Church in Mount Vernon. Rev Karl Hay, Rev John Elmore and Rev Chad Ritchie will be officiating the service.
The family will receive friends and family for visitation Saturday October 19, 2019 from 6-8 PM at Ronnie L Stewart Funeral Service Vidalia Chapel.
Interment will follow at Mount Vernon Memorial Cemetery.
