Mr. Willie Clarence Thomas, age 88, of Alamo died early Thursday morning December 13, 2018 at Meadows Park Health and Rehab of Vidalia after a brief illness.
Mr. Thomas was a native of Alamo where he graduated from Wheeler County High School in 1949; he lived most of his life in Burleson TX. He moved back to Alamo in 2014. Mr. Thomas was a retired project manager where he supervised the start-up of steel plants across the country. He was a veteran of the United States Army where he served during the Korean War. He was an avid fisherman, loved gardening and he was well traveled. He was a member of Alamo First Baptist Church.
Mr. Thomas is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Fickling Thomas in 2013; his son, Robert Lee Thomas in 2006; his sister Annette Nichols and his brother Vernon Thomas.
Willie is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Candy Ann Thomas Wimer and Micheal Geoffrey Wimer of St. Augustine; two sisters, Elizabeth Aspinwall of Alamo and Ruth Hartley of Alamo; three grandchildren, Megan Wimer of Boone NC, Cole Wimer of Ft. Worth TX and Lee Williams of Burleson TX.
Funeral Services for Mr. Willie Clarence Thomas will be held Sunday, December 16, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Stewart-Rosier Funeral Service Glenwood Chapel with Reverend Kyle Woodfin officiating. Interment will follow at Alamo City Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation on Sunday at Stewart-Rosier Funeral Service Glenwood Chapel from 1:00 PM until the hour of the service.
