Mrs. Mary Julia “Peggy Ann” Morris Darden, of Lyons, died Monday November 5, 2018 at Westwood Nursing Home of Statesboro after an extended illness. 

Mrs. Darden was a native of Savannah and lived most of her life in Toombs County.  She worked for many years in factories.  She also worked as a substitute teacher for Toombs County Board of Education.   She loved to crochet, play bingo, fishing and shrimping, putting together puzzles, and reading the Bible.  She was a member of Edmond Chapel Church of God.

Mrs. Darden is preceded in death by her husband, James H. Darden; her son, Mark Antony Darden; her father, Julian Morris; and her mother and step-father, Doris and Donald Lester.

Peggy Ann is survived by her two sons, James Malcolmn Darden (Patty Myrick) of Lyons and John Wayne Darden (Linda Morris) of Statesboro; close friend, Blondean Carrington and family of Statesboro; and cousins, The Byrd Family Gospel Quartet, Ellen Johnson of the Johnson Family Quartet, Lavonne Copeland, Henry Morris, Merlin Mosley and Marlon Mosley.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Julia “Peggy Ann” Morris Darden will be held Friday, November 9, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at  Cedar Crossing Baptist Church with Pastor Reece Mincey and James Malcolmn Darden officiating. Interment will follow at Pincrest Cemetery with John Wayne Darden officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation at the church on Friday from 1:30 until the hour of the service.
