Mr. Doug Phillips, age 52 of Mt. Vernon, died Wednesday evening, April 26, 2018 at Community Hospice of Vidalia after a brief illness. Doug was a native and lifelong resident of Montgomery County. He was a carpenter by trade and Baptist by Faith.
Doug was preceded in death by his step-father, Roy Gene Joyce, in 2016.
Doug is survived by his daughter, Rhiannon Phillips of Atlanta; his mother, Carol Joyce of Mt. Vernon; his father, Joe (Kay) Phillips of Douglasville; his sister, Joanna (Don) Mock of Ailey: his grandson, Harvey Griggs of Atlanta; and one nephew, Tye Lewis of Ailey.
Funeral Services for Doug Phillips will be held on Saturday April 28, 2018 at Stewart-Rosier Funeral Service Vidalia Chapel at 11AM with Reverend Ron Drawdy officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday April 27, 2018 at Stewart-Rosier Funeral Service Vidalia Chapel from 6:00-8:00 PM.
Stewart-Rosier Funeral Service Vidalia Chapel is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Carol, Joanna and family.. Mackey and I send our deepest sympathy for the loss of Doug....he was a wonderful guy....and friend....he fought a good fight, and now he is home, cancer free...May God give you comfort and peace in the many difficult days that follow without Doug...God bless and we send our love and prayers to you.....
