Mr. Otis Farmer Jr., age 88, of Lyons died Saturday, December 23, 2017, at Community Hospice of Vidalia after an extended illness. Otis was born in Swainsboro on May 19, 1929. He served one tour of duty as a cook in the United States Army, and also worked as an ironworker traveling the east coast. Later, Otis worked on a barge on the Savannah River and eventually returned home to Toombs County to retire. He was a member of Lyons First Baptist Church.
Mr. Farmer is preceded in death by his wife, Ila Clark Farmer; his parents, Otis and Lora Youmans Farmer, and five siblings.
Mr. Farmer is survived by one half brother, Noah Farmer of Vidalia; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Otis Farmer Jr. will be held Tuesday, December 26, 2017, at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Lyons with Reverend Dannie Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Lyons City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the First Baptist Church of Lyons from 12:30 PM – 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Farmer’s memory may be offered to Lyons First Baptist Church.
