Mrs. Lucille B. Fields, age 87, of Glenwood died late Friday evening October, 6, 2017 at her residence after an extended illness. She was a native and lifelong resident of Wheeler County.
Mrs. Fields was a homemaker and a member of Stuckey Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir for many years. Over the many years of homecomings and special events Mrs. Lucille became famous for her homemade multi-layer chocolate cake.
She is preceded in death by her husband, James “Big Jake” Fields and her son, Larry E. Fields.
Mrs. Fields is survived by her two sons, James Leon “Little Jake” Fields (Beth) of Glenwood and Michael Alan Fields (Janice) of Old Fort, NC; two brothers, Jack Bailey of Brunswick and Roy Bailey of Kentucky; three sisters, Ellen Whitehead of Alabama, Nell Cooper of Jesup and Kay Gordon of Brunswick; five grandchildren, Walt, Crystal, Kim, Mandi and Brooke; and six great-grandchildren, Landing, Nick, Hope, Reagan, Noelle and Maddie. She is also survived by her fur baby snacking buddy, Princess.
Funeral Service for Mrs. Lucille B. Fields will be held Monday, October 9, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Stuckey Baptist Church with Reverend B.L. Horne and Reverend Randall Gibbs officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church Monday morning from 10:00 AM until the hour of the service.
