Roland's aunts, uncles, and cousins here in eastern North Carolina send their love and thoughts to Sarahlyn, Lydia, and the rest of the family. Roland was a sweet, generous man who overcame obstacles and found peace and comfort in his large and loving family. He seemed to face cancer as he did other parts of his life: straightforwardly and honestly, with a healthy dose of humor. We have appreciated how Roland has remained in touch with us over the years. He was far away from us in miles, but close by in affection. We'll miss him, and we share your sadness.

Alton, Dorothy, Sharon, Jerry and families, One can never say the right thing when you have lost your dad. I know how it hurts and know what an emptiness he left. Focus on his strengths and strive to live as a strong person as he was. My prayer is that you all will feel the love of others and of God during this difficult time. I am only a phone call away. Love you kids!
