To Mrs. Peterson Family

I am so sorry to hear the loss of Mrs. Peterson.She was my most favorite teacher. I always look forward to going to her class. You never knew what was going to happen. She always said to us learning should be fun and it was with her as your teacher. She carried us on all kinds of trips to Savannah, Brunswick any place we could go. I had always hope my children would have her but she retired. and I moved away. Heaven gain a truly good person. May God Bless You All

What a great loss to this community and this world! I was a former student of Mrs. Peterson at Toombs Central High School and was privileged to have her as my history teacher. Her impact on my life was very real and the fact that she has inspired me to love history is evident. I remember fondly "A Day in the Past" she organized and our students were a part of when I was in High School. She impressed on me how important it was to "leave the world better than you found it." This was her mantra for her classes and I learned this lesson well by her example. I also remember that she not only read her Bible but also using it as part of our History Class as well. She was an exemplary teacher, writer, and historian. Although I know she is in a much better place, this day is a sad one because she is no longer in this world. Mrs. Kitty Peterson was a one of the finest people I have ever had the honor to meet and know. You will truly be missed.

Our deepest condolence to the Peterson Family
I feel sure she might have taught all five of our children as they all were at Toombs Central during her years there, and since I was a reader and I tried to read all of her writings and especially anything about local history. She was a great Lady and she truly will be missed.

We are so sadden to hear of the death of one of the most admired ladies that I have ever known. We enjoyed her weekly columns for years and had the pleasure of seeing her at church every Sunday. She always shared a smile with us and was so willing to stop and talk about such interesting things. In 1999 she interviewed my mom, who was living at Bethany Home at the time, for an article in the Vidalia Advance. As we all sat on the porch there in rocking chairs, I learned a lot about love of family, God and history from these two special ladies. It is a cherished memory I will never forget. She was truly a unique person! Rest in peace, "Miss Kitty".

GOD bless the Peterson family during this time. Kitty Peterson enriched my life greatly and instilled within me the drive to pursue my interests and abilities. Her influence and leadership upon so many at TCHS made us better students and people in general. Mrs. Peterson will be sorely missed.

Cathy;
Sorry to hear about Kitty’s passing, I know that she will be missed. We heard many stories about her and your dad from Craig and Harold. Wish that we could have made it to the funeral but we do not travel much. We will be thinking of you and the family in the days ahead. Seems that we only catch up on things at times like this. Maybe we can do better in the future.

The Peterson family

What a great lady; she more than likely had the greatest influence on me during my high school years. My best memories go back to the 8th grade with she helped shape a young mind by instilling into me how important history was. To this day I still remember Miss Peterson and all my Ga history friends like James Oglethorpe and Tommchichi and all the early settlers in Savannah Ga. I also remember her telling me that Frankie you can do anything in life you chose. She always brought out the chattey side of me and those lessons she taught me in our public speaking class I will never forget. By the way Miss Peterson I make my living today and contribute that ability to you for what you shared with me during this very class. In closing what a great lady and know that you influenced and prepared many young lives for the future at TCHS. God Bless

Mrs. Peterson was a delightful lady to know. She was ATS teacher for Lyons Elementary and Middle Schools when my sons, Ardie and Jeff Wright and my niece, Melanie Harden McLemore were involved. We always enjoyed her leadership and shared talents with our kids. We all have truly lost a treasure. May God comfort you all.

To the family of Kitty Peterson: She left an indelible mark on this community in many ways and although I never had the pleasure of meeting her, I thoroughly enjoyed reading her column. Even when I was living far away from Vidalia, I would ask my mother to save every issue of the Advance so I could read Kitty's column when I would come home to visit.

May God bless you and give you peace in this time of sorrow.

We are so sorry to hear of the loss of Mrs. Peterson. She was a sweet lady & dear friend. When I was born in Hawaii, my parents sent her film of me so that my grandparents, Mamie & Bill Hurst, could see me for the first time. Wasn't easy getting Grandpa out but he sure was glad he did. Mrs. Kitty lit up the lives of many. We still drive by when we are in the neighborhood. A lot different now. Our prayers are with you Cathy & family!
