Mrs. Lona Louise Craft, age 90, of Lyons died Tuesday evening September 2, 2014, two days before her 91st birthday at Meadows Regional Medical Center of Vidalia.
She was the daughter of George W. Cook and Lula Sosbee Cook, was Born in 1923 in Oconee County, and had lived in Lyons Ga. most of her life. She retired from Lyons Manufacturing Company and worked several years as a sales clerk at Kaplan’s Dept. Store. She and her husband Jack were charter members of Lyons Freewill Baptist Church and also charter members of Liberty Baptist Church where she remained as a member. She was a member of Bro. Don’s Sunday School class and the Senior Saints.
Mrs. Craft is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Craft; and two great grandchildren, Mathew Cole Darden and Tanner Michael Jones. She is survived by her daughter Linda Jones and husband Bill of Lyons and five sons, Taylor Merritt and wife Ann of Opelkia, AL, Billy Merritt and wife Brenda of Lyons, Sammy Craft and wife Benilda of Lyons, Jerry Craft and wife Linda of Cobbtown and Tommy Craft and wife Sharon of Dublin; 15 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Lona Louise Craft will be held Friday September 5, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Liberty Baptist Church of Lyons with Reverend Don Gibbs, Reverend Mark Wiggins and Reverend Taylor Merritt officiating. Interment will follow in Lyons City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 PM.
Memorial donations may be made to Cornerstone Children’s Center of Vidalia First United Methodist Church.
Stewart-Rosier Funeral Service of Lyons Chapel is in charge of the funeral arrangements.

We were so sad to hear of Miss Lona's passing. She was a very sweet lady and always had a smile on her face. We will keep you all in our thoughts and prayers as you go through this difficult time.

I,m awfully sorry to hear of mrs. crafts passing I did yard work for her and jack jack had a roadside stand and used to sell vegatables I,ve worked for Sammy too. I will miss her and jack we lived on the road next to thirs at route 5 lyons God bless them both.
