William A. “Bill” Dickerson, age 83, of 134 Alexander Ave., Lyons died Thursday, February 14, 2013 at the Glenwood Nursing Home of Glenwood after an extended illness.  

Mr. Dickerson was a native and lifelong resident of Toombs County.  He was a retired foreman of the Vidalia Monument Company where he worked for 40 plus years.  He served in the US Air Force, was a Mason and served as Chairman of the Toombs County Board of Education.  

Mr. Dickerson is survived by his wife, Sarah Dickerson of Lyons; his son; Larry Dickerson of Uvalda; his daughter, Sandra Johnson of Uvalda; his sister, Ethelene James of Lyons; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services for Mr. William A. “Bill” Dickerson will be held Saturday, February 16, 2013 at 3:00 pm from the Chapel of Jones-Stewart Funeral Home of Lyons with Reverend Henry Dowd and  Dr.  Bill Vansant officiating.  Interment will follow in Sharpe Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 pm until the hour of service on Saturday.
