Mr. Joseph G. Smith, age 73 of Alamo, died Sunday evening December 9, 2012 at Community Hospice of Vidalia after a brief illness.
Mr. Smith was a native and lifelong resident of Wheeler County. He was a Rolston-Purina Associate and a former employee of Amercord in Lumber City. He is best described by his family and friends as a loving father and grandfather.
Joseph G. Smith is preceded in death by his wife Martha in 2001 and also his brother David Smith.
Survivors include one son, Joe Smith and wife Jana of Alamo; two daughters, Amanda Stokes and husband Tony of Dublin, and Missy Nail of Alamo; two brothers, Reverend Jimmy Smith of Vidalia and Benny Smith of Glenwood; two sisters, Pauline Yawn Kirkland of Hazlehurst and Pearl Cook of Lumber City and two Grandchildren, Cecilia “Ce-Ce/Cissy” Nail and Joanna Smith, both of Alamo.
Funeral Services for Mr. Joseph G. Smith will be conducted Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Springhill Baptist Church with Reverend Robert Woodall officiating. Interment will follow in the Springhill Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Tuesday evening beginning at 6 PM.
