Mrs. Savilla Vaughn Taylor, age 76, of Vidalia died Thursday evening January 10, 2019 at Candler Select Hospital of Savannah after an extended illness.
Mrs. Taylor was a native of Oak Park where she graduated from Oak Park High School. She lived in Vidalia for most of her life where she worked for many years at the Toombs County Court House. She later retired from the Bethany Home of Vidalia with many years of service. She sang in the Vaughn Quartet with her two brothers and uncle for many years. She was an avid reader and a member of Olney Primitive Baptist Church of Oak Park where she was the church pianist for over 50 years as she began playing when she was 15 years old.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Ray E. Taylor; her brother, Calvin Vaughn; her sister, Faye Garrett; and her parents, Elmer and Cellie Vaughn.
She is survived by her daughter, Gina Jackson of Vidalia; her brother, Curtis Vaughn of Lyons; her sister, Karen Connell (Neal) of Vidalia; and her sister-in-law, Juanice Vaughn of Vidalia. Two grandchildren, Taylor Jackson (Ariel) and Tyler Pittman, both of Vidalia; and three great-grandchildren, Kyle Jackson, Rebecca Jackson, and Triniti Jackson also survive.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Savilla Vaughn Taylor will be held Tuesday January 15, 2019 at Stewart-Rosier Funeral Service Vidalia Chapel at 11:00 AM with Elder Bill Durrence officiating. Interment will follow at Waters Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation at the funeral home Monday evening from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
