Mr. Darvin George Williamson, age 77, died late Tuesday night at Eternal Hope Hospice of Griffin after an extended illness. Mr. Darvin was born September 10, 1940 to Myrtle Faircloth Williamson and Theron Williamson.
Mr. Darvin is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 50 years, Emoline Whitfield Williamson; his granddaughter, Katie Elizabeth Martin; his sisters, Shirley Williamson Kite and Bernice Williamson Hopkins; and his brother and sister-in-laws, Wayne Hopkins, H.C. Whitfield, and Earl and Margie Colvin.
He is survived by his daughters, Tammy Thornton (Jason) of Monticello, and Susie Martin (Steve) of Barnesville; his grandchildren, Andrew Johnson, Destiny, Amber, Shirley Thornton, Karen Martin McDaniel (Ben); his great-grandchild, Sara Kate McDaniel; his brother, Jerome Williamson (Joyce) of Macon; and special friends, Ellis and Hattie Collins of Titusville, Fl.
At a young age Darvin joined Pendleton Springs Baptist Church in Oak Park. He later attended Christian Fellowship Church in Zebulon where he dearly loved both passing out bulletins each week, and his Pastor Al Shackleford. He started his career in the furniture business at Gilbert’s Furniture Store in Macon. He managed Maxwell Home Furniture and Jones and Harrison Furniture in Griffin, retiring after 49 years from a job he enjoyed. He also spent many years with the Griffin Kiwanis and was also a proud member of the Masons and Shrine.
The family ask that memorials be made to Pendleton Springs Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, in care of Susan Bell at P.O. Box 1579, Vidalia, GA 30475.
Funeral services for Mr. Darvin George Williamson will be held Thursday afternoon, July 19, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Stewart-Rosier Funeral Service Vidalia Chapel with Jason Thornton officiating. Interment will follow in Pendleton Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Oak Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 PM until the hour of service.
