Mr. Russell Ray Stevens Jr., age 58, of Toombs County died suddenly on Sunday June 10, 2o18 on Lent Stevens Road of Vidalia from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. Mr. Stevens was a native of Springfield Ohio and had lived most of his life in Toombs County.
Russell was a Commercial Truck Driver and had worked for JAB-O since 2006. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish and he was a carpenter who had to talent to build almost anything with his hands. Russell was a true patriot as he had a deep love for God and Country. He attended Cornerstone Church of Lyons. Russell was extremely knowledgeable about the bible and was the backbone of his family.
Mr. Stevens is preceded in death by his parents, Russell Ray Stevens Sr. and Marjorie Stevens; his maternal grandparents, Clarence Jones and Etta Benston; and his paternal grandparents, H. Ray and Bessie Stevens.
Russell is survived by his wife, Judy Newson Stevens of Vidalia; his brother, Keith Stevens of Rome GA; two sisters, Sheron Freeman of Lyons and Renee Stevens of Vidalia; one step-son, Mack Kersey of Lumber City; two step-daughters Teresa Hunt of Vidalia and Tonya Batchelor of Blue Ridge; and three grandchildren, Madison Mitchum of Blue Ridge, Tyler Mitchum of PA and Cody Mitchum of TX. He was loved by many other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services for Mr. Russell Ray Stevens Jr. will be held on Friday June 15, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Stewart-Rosier Funeral Service Vidalia Chapel with Reverend Charlie Hodges officiating. Interment will follow at Ohoopee Communtiy Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the Vidalia Chapel.
Motorcycle enthusiast and clubs are encouraged to ride their motorcycles to be part of the procession and be recognized as honorary pallbearers.
