Mr. Hudman “Hub” Mock, age 95, of Mt. Vernon died Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at Community Hospice of Vidalia after a brief illness. He was a native of Dover GA, resided in Savannah for many years, and retired to Mt. Vernon in 1975. He retired from the United States Army as a Command Sgt. Major with 21 years of service. He was a veteran of World War II and Korea where he received numerous awards including the Purple Heart. He worked many years in the hardware business, and was a lifetime member of the VFW and Fraternal Order of the Purple Heart. He was the oldest surviving member of Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church where he served on the Board of Trustees. In his retirement, he enjoyed gardening, spending time with family, and serving others.
Mr. Mock is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 59 years, Gloria Ann Mock.
Mr. Mock is survived by his two sons, Ron Mock Sr. (Victoria) of Mt. Vernon, and Don Mock (Joanna) of Ailey; his stepson, Greg Hutcheson of Vidalia; two sisters, Jeanette Usher of Rincon, and Shirley Brown of Leesburg; seven grandchildren, Cj, Ron Jr., Tye, Kim, Shannon, Casey, Tyler, and one arriving in November; 8 great-grandchildren; and his caregiver, Vanessa Stanley of Mt. Vernon.
Funeral Services for Mr. Hudman “Hub” Mock will be held Saturday August, 5, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Mt. Vernon First United Methodist Church with Pastor Arnie Raj officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Stewart-Rosier Funeral Service Vidalia Chapel Friday evening from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
