Mrs. Wilma Sightler Jenkins, age 65, of Glenwood died Monday, July 31, 2017 at Community Hospice of Vidalia after an extended illness. She was a native and lifelong resident of Wheeler County.
Mrs. Jenkins was a Registered Nurse for 44 years who touched the lives of countless people with her servants heart. She was trained by Georgia Baptist College of Nursing in Atlanta and she was a member of many professional affiliations. In 2009 she was inducted into the GA Baptist Nursing Hall of Fame for her excellence in Community Health Services. Wilma was a lifelong Christian and member of Stuckey Baptist Church who dedicated her life to serving the Lord. She held numerous positions in the church including choir director, Vacation Bible Schood director, pianist and Church clerk. Wilma also served as Clerk for the Daniel Baptist Association for many years.
She is preceded in death by her sister, Yvonne Sightler West.
Wilma is survived by her husband, Gary Jenkins of Glenwood; two daughters, Faithe Parker of Glenwood and Susan Montford (Lee) of Vidalia; her twin brother, Dr. William Sightler (Saundra) of Eatonton; and five grandchildren, Kristen, Kelsey, Sydney, Kassidy and Lily; and her “adopted” granddaughter, Brooke. Several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Wilma Sightler Jenkins will be held Thursday August 3, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Stuckey Baptist Church with Reverend B.L. Horne, Keegan Spell and Reverend Glenn Waters officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening August 2, 2017 from 6:00-8:00pm at Stewart-Rosier Funeral Service VIDALIA Chapel.
Flowers are accepted, or memorial donations in her honor may be made to Community Hospice of Vidalia or the American Cancer Society.
