Mr. Roy Gene Joyce, age 76, of Mt. Vernon died Wednesday morning, October 26, 2016, at Coliseum Medical Center of Macon after a brief illness.
Mr. Joyce was a native and lifelong resident of Mt. Vernon. He was a commercial and residential builder both locally and throughout Southeast Georgia. He was the owner of Pine-Ridge Apartments of Mt. Vernon. Mr. Joyce was an avid animal lover and sought out animals needing refuge. He was a member of Calvary on Aimwell in Vidalia.
Mr. Roy Joyce was preceded in death by his son, Paul Joyce, in 1980.
Mr. Joyce is survived by his wife, Carol Joyce of Mt. Vernon; two sons, Dean Joyce and Doug Phillips, both of Mt. Vernon; four daughters, Sheila Clark (Dr. Robert Clark) of Vidalia, Lisa Keating (Michael) of Vidalia, Joanna Mock (Don) of Ailey, and Sherry Joyce of Mt. Vernon; one brother, Troy Joyce of Dublin, one sister, Audrey Williamson of Vidalia; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services for Mr. Roy Gene Joyce will be held Saturday, October 29, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Stewart-Rosier Funeral Service Vidalia Chapel with Reverend Efton Green officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening, October 28, at Stewart-Rosier Funeral Service Vidalia Chapel from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
