Dr. Chris McRae, age 69, of Lyons died Saturday afternoon, August 6, 2016 at Meadows Regional Medical Center after an extended illness.
Dr. McRae was a native and lifelong resident of Lyons. He graduated from the University of Georgia in 1972 with a Degree of Veterinarian Medicine. After graduating he practiced Veterinary Medicine in Lyons until his retirement in 2012. He was a member of Lyons First United Methodist Church.
Dr. McRae is preceded in death by his father, James A. McRae in 1999.
He is survived by his son, Dr. Wesley McRae (Agatha) of Swainsboro; two daughters, Christy Todd (Chris) of Huntersville, N.C., and Dr. Reagan McRae of Thousand Oaks, CA; his mother, Corkey B. McRae of Lyons; four sisters, Nancy Liesfeld of Waynesboro, Tess Bankston of Lake Oconee, Beth Houston of Marietta and Ginger McRae of Decatur; and four grandchildren, Madison Todd, James Todd, Emily McRae and Charlie McRae.
Funeral services for Dr. Chris McRae will be Tuesday, August 9, 2016, at 3:30 PM at Lyons First United Methodist Church with Reverend Jim Morrow officiating. Interment will follow in Lyons City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Church on Tuesday in the John Durst Sunday School Room from 1:30 PM until the hour of the service.
