Mr. Walter John Bailey, age 87, of Uvalda, died Monday morning, September 28, 2015, at The Oaks at Bethany in Vidalia after an extended illness.

Mr. Walter Bailey was a native of Wheeler County and lived in Montgomery County most of his life. He was retired from the Georgia D.O.T. and attended Uvalda Church of God.

Mr. Bailey is survived by his wife, Tiny Bailey, of Uvalda; one son, John Earl Bailey, of Mount Vernon; one daughter, Shirley Ann Clements of Jacksonville, Georgia; three brothers, Bobby Bailey of Kenwick, Washington, Willis Bailey of Olympia, Washington, and James Bailey of Las Vegas, Nevada; one sister, Helen Walker of Vidalia; five grandchildren; and seventeen great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mr. Walter John Bailey will be held Saturday, October 3, at 2:00 pm at Uvalda Church of God with Reverend Alvin Merritt and Reverend Reece Mincey officiating and Vivian Harrell also speaking. Interment will follow at Uvalda City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Stewart-Rosier Funeral Service Vidalia Chapel Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00.
