Mrs. Thelma Powell Aaron, age 85, of Lyons died Sunday, May 31, 2015 at her residence after an extended illness.  

Thelma was a native and lifelong resident of Toombs County. She was an office manager and receptionist at Dr. Ben Neely’s office for many years; and also a member of the Lyons First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for a number of years as well.  

She is preceded in death by her husband Alvin Aaron in 2009.

Mrs. Aaron is survived by her two sons L.T.C. Retired U.S. Army Dwayne Aaron and his wife Gloria Kavakos Aaron of Fayetteville, North Carolina and Terry Aaron of Lyons; one daughter Doctor Renee Coughlin and her husband Jeff of North Augusta, South Carolina; one brother Bruce Powell and his wife Elouise of Lyons; and seven grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Thelma Powell Aaron will be held Thursday, June 4, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Lyons First Baptist Church with Reverend Dannie Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Lyons City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 AM until the hour of service.
