Gene Brantley, age 73, of Uvalda, died Wednesday evening March 18, 2015, at Community Hospice of Vidalia after a brief illness.

He was a native of Toombs County. Gene resided in Florida for many years, returning to Uvalda in 1993. He was a retired machine operator and Baptist by faith.

He is survived by his two sons Dwayne and Michael Brantley of Palatka, Florida; one brother Ronald Brantley of Calhoun, Georgia; one special friend Patsy McGowan of Uvalda, Georgia; and several grandchildren.

Graveside services for Mr. Gene Brantley will be held Saturday, March 21, 2015, at 11:00 AM at Cedar Crossing Cemetery with Reverend John Daughtry officiating. Interment will follow. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 6-8 PM.
