Mr. Marcus Kenyon Earick, age 84, of Uvalda died early Tuesday morning, November 4, 2014 at his residence after an extended illness.
Mr. Earick was a native of Wheeler County; lived most of his life in Glenwood and moved to Uvalda in 2004. Marcus was a former Glenwood City Councilman. He was a retired grocer and former owner of Mt. Vernon, Alamo and Glenwood Red & White. He served as the hospital administrator of the Glenwood Hospital and was a Veteran of the United States Navy. Marcus was a member of Glenwood Masonic Lodge and Uvalda First Baptist Church.
Mr. Earick was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and May Belle Earick; four brothers and four sisters.
Marcus is survived by his wife, Jane Earick of Uvalda; two sons, Marcus Kenyon Earick Jr. and wife Teresa of McIntyre and Lawrence Kenyon Earick of McIntyre; five daughters, Karen Lee Smith of Milledgeville, Kathy Lynn Snyder and husband Robert of Haddock, Karol Lanette Garner and husband Ronnie of Sandersville, Ericka Earick Clark and husband Ben of Uvalda and Tracey Earick McCorkle and husband Vance of Buena Vista; and one sister, Mary Willard of Orlando FL. 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral Services for Mr. Marcus Kenyon Earick will be held Thursday, November 6, 2014 at 3:00 pm at Stewart-Rosier Funeral Service Glenwood Chapel with Reverend Adrian Bell officiating. Interment will follow in Edge Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 pm.
