Guadalupe Castro, age 75, of Lyons died Thursday, January 9, 2014 at Community Hospice of Vidalia after an extended illness.
Mr. Castro was a native of Mexico, living most of his life in the United States, and settled in Lyons, GA to raise and establish a family. He was a farmer by trade and was Catholic by faith.
Mr. Castro is preceded in death by his sons, Inocente Castro, and Rosendo Castro.
He is survived by his wife, Margarita Castro of 59 years; seven sons, Jose Alfredo Castro of Lyons, Jose Guadalupe Castro Jr. of Lyons, Jose Angel Castro of Dalton, Elisar Castro of Lyons, Rosauro Castro of Vidalia, J.C. Castro of Vidalia, and Isauro Castro of Lyons; six daughters, Maria Castro of Dalton, Rosa Castro of Lyons, Margarita Hernandez of Lyons, Luciana Castro of Bainbridge, Martha Alicia Venegas of Ashford, AL and Sylvia Hernandez of TX. Sixty seven grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive
The Funeral Mass for Mr. Guadelupe Castro will be held Monday, January 13, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Ben Dallas officiating. Interment will follow in Lyons City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday beginning at 10:00 AM with a Rosary Service scheduled at 4 pm.
