Barney Howell Raulerson, age 81, of Mount Vernon died Wednesday, April 11, 2013 at Pleasantview Nursing Home of Metter after an extended illness.
Mr. Raulerson was a native of Immokaleee, FL and had lived in Mount Vernon for the past 40 years. He retired from the United States Air Force, was a Mason, a Shriner and a member of Lotts Creek Church of God. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans and the Civil Air Patrol.
Mr. Raulerson is preceded in death by two daughters, Casey Raulerson and Sherry Raulerson Cates; and his brother, Hardy Raulerson.
He is survived by his wife, Sue O’Conner Raulerson of Mount Vernon; two daughters, Patsy Clark of Alamo and Sonya Durden of Soperton; one brother, Ralph Raulerson of Mount Vernon; one sister, Daphne Shellabarger of Immokalee, FL; the mother of his children, Mary Cheek of Glenwood; nine grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services for Mr. Raulerson will be held Sunday, April 14, 2013 at 2:00PM from the Vidalia Chapel of Ronnie L. Stewart Funeral Service with Reverend Jerry Newell and Reverend Brian Patrick officiating. Interment will follow in the Clark Family Cemetery near Glenwood with Military Honors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Saturday evening.
