Randy Thigpen, age 53, of Lumber City died Saturday evening, March 23, 2013 at Lower Oconee Hospital of Glenwood after a sudden illness.
Mr. Thigpen was a native and lifelong resident of Wheeler County. He was a farmer and a logger. He was also a member of the Lumber City Church of God.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Leslie Chapman in 2011 and his parents, Kelly and Mary Lou Thigpen.
Mr. Thigpen is survived by his wife, Debora Thigpen of Lumber City; his son, Billy Ray Chapman of Lumber City; two daughters, Annabeth Chapman of Lumber City and Angie Dean and her husband Jim of Lumber City; one brother, Billy Thigpen of Lumber City; two sisters, Judy Lee of Alma and Jan Thigpen of Glenwood; and two grandchildren, Kaylee and Jae Dean, both of Lumber City.
Funeral Services for Randy Thigpen will be held Monday afternoon March 25, 2013 at 1:00 PM from Lumber City Church of God with Reverend David Deen officiating. Interment will follow in the Shiloh Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 11 a.m. until the hour of the service at the church.
