Mrs. Peggy Avant, age 71, of Uvalda, died Saturday evening, September 7, 2019 at Community Hospice of Vidalia after a brief illness. Peggy was a native of Treutlen County living most of her life in Uvalda. She was an administrative office assistant and recently retired from Findlay Management of Vidalia. Peggy attended Cedar Crossing Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her father, Estol Williamson.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Clinton Brewton Avant of Uvalda; two daughters, Cindy Avant Corbitt (Matt) of Uvalda, and Kimberly Avant Foskey (Craig) of Higgston; her mother, Mary Lois Williamson of Vidalia; one sister, Sherry Williamson Baggott of Rincon; and four grandchildren, McKenley Joseph Corbitt, Mason Joshua Corbitt, Clinton Sloan Fountain, and Victoria Skylar Fountain.
Graveside Funeral Services for Mrs. Peggy Avant will be held Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at 9:00AM at Uvalda City Cemetery. Interment will follow. The family will receive friends for visitation at Ronnie L. Stewart Funeral Service Vidalia Chapel on Monday evening from 6:00PM to 8:00PM.
In Lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to be made in her name to Vidalia Heritage Academy, 107 East 2nd Street, Vidalia, GA 30474.
Ronnie L. Stewart Funeral Service Vidalia Chapel is in charge of funeral arrangements.

I'm so sorry to hear of Peggy's passing. I will always remember times spent out there with all of you, the family gatherings and the homemade dishes that Peggy and everyone made. These were some of my fondest childhood memories. Peggy and Clint flew all the way to California for my wedding and I will always treasure that. It was an awesome surprise! You are all in my hearts and thoughts.

Clinton, I worked with Peggy at Piggly Wiggly. It has been many years, but I never forgot her. Also, I enjoyed spending time with her at the Lyons First Methodist Church once a month lunches. My heart goes out to you and your girls. All of us feel your loss.
