Mr. I.D. Oxford, age 87, of Vidalia died Monday December 31, 2018 at his residence under the care of Pruitt Hospice after an extended illness.
Mr. Oxford was a native of Jenkins County and retired from GA/FLA Railroad with 31 years and 6 months of service. He moved to Vidalia in 1977 and was the former owner/operator of a convenience store, Smiths Fried Chicken and Captain’s Corner Restaurants in Vidalia. He also was the former owner/operator of the Alberto Hotel in Lyons. He was a member of Vidalia Baptist Temple.
Mr. Oxford is preceded in death his daughter, Janice Willis earlier this year.
He is survived by his wife, Ramona Oxford of Vidalia; his step-daughter Susan McCard of Vidalia; his daughter, Shiryl Lewis of South Carolina; three brothers, William Oxford of Center AL, Earl Oxford of Marietta and Wayne Oxford of Augusta. Five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral Services for Mr. I.D. Oxford will be held Thursday January 3, 2019 at Stewart-Rosier Funeral Service Vidalia Chapel at 11:00 AM with Robbie Rosier officiating. Interment will follow at 2:00 PM in the Millen City Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
