Heather and family - my thoughts and prayers are with your family at this hour of need. We met Matt 3 mths after moving here and he was a great coach to Alli. He went on to coach her All Star team and then on to coaching her travel team with the HERicanes. He was great with the kids, always striving to better them and always with a smile. Matt and Trey just coached Rec ball together this spring. Wow. I just can't believe this. Through all this I got to know you, Heather, and your kids. And one thing was clear - you were head over heels in love with your husband. You were such a great wife for Matt. May you look to God for all the strength you will need in the coming days. I pray for you and your children to come out of this darkness - together and stronger than ever.

I am so honored to have known and worked with Matt. He was always so nice, smiling, and eager to lend a hand. I always admired what a good, hardworking man he was and how much he loved his family. Always showing pictures of his kids and talking about their accomplishments...... He was so proud. I pray that his family can find peace and comfort in knowing how respected and loved he was by everyone in the community.

I don't know how to say how very very sorry I am for each of you. I don't want to think of the loss of a husband, a father, a son or a friend. All of that has happened and each will miss Matt in a very different way. I pray that God be with each and every one of you and that he "carry" you as you travel this path. I especially pray that he lift you up for the next few days as you say a good bye to a loving father, husband and son. May he extend his mercy on this family and give them the comfort that only he can give for what is going to be a "real loss" to each for the rest of their lives.

My prayers and condolences are with each of you during this sad time and in the days ahead. I pray for the Lord to grant to each of you a peace that surpasses all understanding and strength to match. We dont know why things happen as they do, but rest assured God does, and one day soon we will all know that answer. It is not God's will that we suffer like this , but He does know the future and He knows the path that He desires to take each one of you down. Hold fast to the hand of the Lord and though you feel the pain of this loss, the Lord will bring you through it. Hold fast to His hand. Matt was a good friend, a good man. He will be missed.

Talmadge and family, my heart goes out to you during this incredibly sad time for your family. I remember Matt as a child and young person and a "boyfriend" of Julie's when they were young. He grew into a fine man and served his community and family well. Walking through the shadow of death of a child is one of the hardest things humans sometimes have to do; however, with God's help and the support of family and friends, the journey is made a little easier. My prayer is that God will surround you with His love during the coming months.

Talmadge and Family, We are so terribly saddened by the news of Matt's death. Although I am a native of Vidalia, I had been gone for many years, and we first met Matt at our attorney's office when we were buying our home here in Montgomery County. He came over and introduced himself to us with an enormous smile and a warm handshake. I asked him who his father was and he told me; I mentioned that I had known you and Doug, who had been at one time in Vidalia school. It was such a pleasant meeting; however, we were greatly surprised when he came to our new home with a huge basket full of locally grown goodies and a box of Vidalia onions. We were just floored by his graciousness, and there our friendship began. Matt even came out and met us at the Altamaha Bank when we opened an acoount there. From that point on, we saw him in many places, and no matter how busy he may have been, he stopped to speak to us and called us by name. He was a true Southern gentleman with a big heart, and we shall miss his presence. May God give you comfort this very day and those that follow.
