Mr. Robert Lee “Bob” Humphrey, age 88, died Thursday afternoon at Community Hospice of Vidalia, after an extended illness.
Bob was a native of Wheeler County, and lived most of his life in Toombs County. He was a Marine Veteran of World War II, where he served in the South Pacific and China. He was a member of Center United Methodist Church.
Bob is preceded in death by his wife Lucille McBride Humphrey; his father, Robert Lee Humphrey Sr.; his mother, Mary E. Humphrey; two brothers, James Monroe Humphrey and William D. Jack Humphrey and his sister Doris Humphrey Peterson.
Mr. Humphrey is survived by his daughter Lonnette Mead and husband Talmadge of Vidalia; son Travis McBride and wife Hilda of Vidalia; son Jerry Humphrey of Vidalia; son Michael Humphrey of Alma; and daughter DeeAnne Wyse of Cartersville. Several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives also survive.
Funeral Services for Mr. Robert Lee “Bob” Humphrey will be held Sunday March 23, 2014, at 2:00 PM at the Stewart-Rosier Funeral Service Vidalia Chapel with Reverend Ron Womack and Reverend James Scott officiating. Interment will follow in Pinecrest Cemetery. The Family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday evening from 6-8 PM.
Stewart-Rosier Funeral Service of Vidalia is in charge of funeral arrangements.
