Mr. Larry Oliver, age 70, of Uvalda died Tuesday afternoon, January 8, 2013, in the Jeff Davis Hospital of Hazlehurst after a sudden illness.
Mr. Oliver was a native of Wheeler County and had resided in Uvalda for the past 10 years. He was a truck driver and an ordained Baptist Minister serving in Wrightsville, Scotland and in Glenwood.
Mr. Oliver is survived by his wife, Carolyn Oliver of Uvalda; five sons, Robert Walker of Jacksonville, Florida, Allen Oliver of Jacksonville, Barry Oliver of Callahan, Johnnie Tyler Oliver of Eastman and Johnnie Carter Neesmith of Normantown; eight daughters, Janet Dunlap of Middleburg, Florida, Patti Edwards of Vidalia, Deborah Fountain of Mt. Vernon, Judy Edge of Alamo, Rhonda Taylor of Uvalda, Sabrina Gillespie of Jacksonville, Florida, Trudy Marie Peterson of Ellijay and Sandi Allen of Jacksonville; one brother, Vance Oliver of Alamo; two sisters, Paulette Edge of Mt. Vernon and Marlene Fowler of Alamo. A number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral Services for Mr. Larry Oliver will be conducted Friday afternoon January 11, 2013 from the Ronnie L. Stewart Funeral Service Chapel of Vidalia with Reverend Irvin Poole officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 6 until 8 P.M.
