Mr. Matt Porter, age 32, of Vidalia died early Friday morning April 22, 2016 in Hazlehurst after a sudden illness.

Mr. Porter was a native of Augusta, living most of his life in Oak Island N.C.; moving to Vidalia in 2009.  He was a construction worker until his permanent disability in 2014.  He was Methodist by faith.

Matt is survived by his fiancée, Whitney New of Hazlehurst; two sons, Korbin Ross Porter and Konner Matthew Porter, both of Hazlehurst; his mother and step-father, Laverne and Bill Cannon of Cobbtown; his father, Charles Hilton Porter Jr. of Bay City Texas; two brothers, Jonathan Porter of Mt. Dora Fl., and Christopher Porter of Vidalia; one step-brother, Mark Cannon of Salisbury N.C.; one half-brother, Charlie Pruitt of Shreveport La.; maternal grandmother, Lottie Lockley of Vidalia; and his father-in-law, Troy New of Hazlehurst.

Funeral Services for Mr. Matt Porter, will be held Thursday April 28, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Stewart-Rosier Funeral Service Vidalia Chapel with Reverend Andy Williams officiating.  Interment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home Wednesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 pm.
