Mr. E.W. Dixon Sr., age 92, of Vidalia died Friday morning, March 14, 2014, at Meadows Regional Medical Center of Vidalia, after a brief illness.
Mr. E.W. was a native of Wheeler county, and lived most of his life in Vidalia. He was the owner and operator of Dixon Timber Company. He was a veteran of the United States Army where he served his country in World War II. He was Baptist by faith.
Mr. Dixon is survived by his wife Marion Dees Dixon, of Vidalia; three sons E.W. Dixon Jr., of Vidalia, Richard Dixon and wife Janice, of Vidalia, Rusty Dixon and wife Diane, of Brunswick; two daughters Elaine Stewart, of Vidalia, and Pansy Dunford, of Vidalia; two sisters Ruby Dixon, of Glenwood, and Ruth Hensley, of Winder; five grandchildren Josh Dixon and wife Melani, Clarissa Zabarac and husband Mike, Justin Dunford, Alison Lamb and husband Josh, and Lauren Stewart; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services for Mr. E.W. Dixon Sr. will be held Sunday March 16, 2014 at 4:00 PM at Stewart-Rosier Funeral Service Vidalia Chapel with Reverend Reece Mincey officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday evening from 6-8.
